Frequently asked questions
Q. How far in advance can I book?
A. You can book in up to 4 weeks in advance,
Q. How many people can come to the shoot?
A. My studio can accommodate around 10 to 12 people depending on how many are adults.
Q. What sort of clothes should we wear?
A. I recommend bringing a few different outfits so that I can get a variety of shots for you to choose from. The key is to bring something you are comfortable to see yourself wearing as the images could be on your wall for a few years. Your clothes are your own personal identity so don’t wear something you wouldn’t normally wear but be conscious of what everyone else is wearing.
Q. What about colour of clothes?
A. The choice of colour is totally yours but what I do recommend is having a cohesive scheme that brings your outfits together. That could be as simple as a certain accent colour in what all of you are wearing or maybe just all jeans and bare feet.
Q. Can we bring our pet?
A. Pets are always welcome as long as they are well behaved, and you are prepared to clean up any accidents. Pets are always the last appointment of the day so take this into account when booking in.
Q. How many pictures do you take?
A. I like to give my customers variety so I usually take a number of compositions to give you as much choice as possible. A regular family shoot will have some of everyone, some of just the kids, some of the kids individually, some of dad and kids and some of mum and kids. If you have any specific combinations please let me know on the day of the shoot.
Q. How soon after the shoot will we be able to see our photos?
A. Where possible I will try to book you in for the following week to view your images but this is simply down to availability in the diary.
Q. Do you retouch the images, get rid of my spots etc…?
A. All wall images are professionally retouched. If you have any specific request please make sure to let me know at the viewing.
Q. Is there any pressure to buy?
A. Not at all. You are welcome to choose as many or as few images as you like. You may just want one really nice image for the wall or a smaller set of images the choice is yours.
Q. How do I pay for the images?
A. You can pay for images by card or cash
Q. How long will it take for my order to come back?
A. All orders take around 3-4 weeks to be processed and returned to the studio, we will then arrange a suitable day to collect.
Q. Can we order after the viewing?
A. Yes you can order after the viewing but they will be sold at the full price rather than the preview price. The preview price is about 20% less and is only available on your initial viewing.
Q. Do you sell images online?
A. No I don’t have the facilities to show images online.
Q. How long do you keep the images?
A. All images are kept for 3 months after your viewing. Should you wish to order after your initial viewing then there is a £25 charge for a new viewing appointment and the prices revert to the full price rather than the preview price offered at the initial viewing.
Q. Do you sell Digital copies?
A. Yes digital copies are available at the viewing. The cost of digital images can be quite expensive as you are in effect buying the negatives and they can be printed at any size and as many times as you like.
Q. Can we print from the Digital copies?
A. As mentioned above you can print from our digital copies. Some photographers will only supply you with low resolution images that can only be printed to small sizes or used on social media.
Q. Why do you cost so much?
A. There are many factors involved when choosing what to charge people for my services. Part of the cost is production, there is no substitute for quality products and quality costs more. Then you also have to take into account time taken. On average each customer that comes through the studio takes a minimum of 4 hours. This means that as a one man band I can only book a maximum of 10 customers per week. There are also a number of costs in running a business i.e. rent, electricity, equipment, tax etc… and finally you are paying for me and my 20 something years of experience as a photographer.
Q. What makes you different from other photographers?
A. All competent photographers can take images so the answer has to be ME. I am what makes me different to other photographers, my experience, my knowledge, my creativity, my personality.
Q. Can you shoot from our home?
A. This is not a service I normally provide as I have a lot of equipment for my style of photography and most rooms and houses would be too small. If you have a really big house then of course I will consider it.
Q. Is there parking near the studio?
A. There is no parking at the studio but Sainsburys is very close by and only £1 for 2 hours.
Q. If I have to cancel the session how much notice do I have to give?
A. If you need to cancel your session for any reason I ask for at least 3 days notice as less than this makes it very difficult to book someone else into your slot. Cancelling at short notice may also result in your voucher being voided.
